Whether you want to free up some extra space in a room that’s a bit cramped, create an extra sleeping spot for friends and family, or any other possible use you can think of, bunk beds are the perfect option. Since bunk beds, regardless of the style, all possess a top bed unit which sits high up off the ground, they are able to use up the vertical space in your room that wouldn’t be in use with a regular bed, allowing for either extra beds, or extra room for storage, couches, televisions, or anything else your child has in their bedroom. Coming in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and styles, bunk beds can be made to fit in with any room.
Types of Bunk Beds

Twin Over Twin Bunk Bed
This is the most common style of bunk bed. The mattresses on both the top and the bottom are the same size.

Futon Bunk Bed
Futon bunk beds are similar to a standard bunk bed, with a twin size mattress on top, but instead of having another twin mattress on the bottom, there is a futon. This allows for the bottom portion to be utilized as a couch as well as a bed.

Twin Over Full
Similar to the Standard Bunk Bed, but the lower portion has a larger, full-sized mattress, while the upper portion contains the regular, smaller mattress.

Wood Bunk Bed
Solid woods bunk beds available in twin over twin or twin over double styles. Sourced from Canada's leading importers. Delivered right to your room.
Bunk Bed Safety
Think about the following things when choosing a bunk bed for your child/children to ensure their safety.
Once you have purchased a bunk bed, there are some guidelines that should be followed to make sure that no accidents occur while using the bunk bed
Choosing the Right Bunk Bed Mattress
When shopping for a bunk bed mattress, it is important to remember just how crucial a good mattress is to deep, rejuvenating sleep. Your child’s bunk bed is no exception to this. The wrong mattress can lead to difficulty sleeping, and a host of other problems as well.
Picking a mattress for a bunk bed is also important in another respect. It is very important that the mattress fits very closely inside the frame. The gaps between the mattress and frame can allow for a child’s leg, arm, or head to get caught. This is a serious safety hazard, but it can be easily avoided by simply picking a mattress of the right dimensions.
Once you have the dimensions that you require, the purchasing of a bunk bed mattress follows the same process as buying any other mattress. It is impossible to say that one mattress is the most comfortable, as there is a high degree of personal preference involved.
There are two basic types of mattresses to choose from when selecting a mattress for your bunk bed, as with any other bed. Innerspring, which is the most common type of mattress, and foam. Innerspring mattresses contain wire coils inside of them that determine how firm and durable they are, and foam mattresses are made up entirely of foam.
In the case of both of these types of mattresses, one of the most important factors that determine the comfort of the mattress is the padding on the top. It is easy to understand why this is so important with an innerspring mattress – laying on metal coils hardly sounds comfortable. With foam mattresses, the padding on top is also important, as the lower portion of the foam is the portion meant to supply support rather than comfort, as comfort is the job of the upper padding.
As with any other mattress which you purchase, lay on (or have your child lay on, as this will likely be for them to sleep on, not you) any mattress you like the initial feel of for an extended period. This will allow you to get a better feel for how the mattress will feel as you sleep on it at night. After all, you sleep on your bed for hours, as opposed to the minutes or seconds that many people lay down on each mattress when they are looking to buy. Taking the extra time when choosing the mattress for your bunk bed will be well worth the time when your child is able to sleep soundly and restfully every night once you have it.
